The Online Portfolio of Sean O'Brien. Web & Content Designer, Professional Windsurfer and Perpetual Traveller...
Hi there everyone. My name is Sean O'Brien and I'm into webdesign and graphics. You might have heard my name somewhere in the world of windsurfing. As a matter of fact when I'm not sitting at my computer being a nerd, I'm training full time as a professional windsurfer.
I've always been fascinated by technology and computers, and one of the cooler aspects of working in this industry is being able to take your work with you when you're on tour...
I live on the East Coast of Australia in Brisbane... Well, not all the time. During the Australian winter I'm based in the Netherlands, competing on the Pro Windsurfing World Tour. Windsurfing has taken me from one end of the globe to the other; in fact, I have competed in Europe, Asia and the UK over the last few years at such events as the PWA World Tour, Formula World Championships, IFCA World Championships, the Euro-Cup Series, and many Olympic Regattas on the RS:X. I spend most of the Australian summer competing in Formula, Slalom and RS:X events all around Australia and New Zealand when I'm not in Europe.
Despite being pretty into computers, at the end of 2005, I completed my studies, graduating with a Bachelor of Psychological Science degree (yes, I don't have a degree in webdesign or anything related, actually!). Before you click away from this website however, I did spend some time studying Communication Design which mainly involved visual interactions, website and flash design and media communications before I ticked over to Psychology. Graphic and website design has become somewhat of a passion for me and shortly after finishing my degree, I began my own graphic/media design company.
After setting up and registering this company "Design120" as a business in 2006, I used the company to help with many windsurfing organisations around Australia; organising and promoting windsurfing events. Currently I'm the webmaster for Windsurfing NSW (NSW's state windsurfing authority) and Storm-Riders Windsurfing Club (the largest windsurfing club in Australia). On top of this, I've been designing posters and promotional cards/print media for many prestigious windsurfing events occurring in Australia and New Zealand over the past few years, as well as organising many of the events. I'm basically using all the money I earn here to fund my windsurfing campaign.
Webdesigner since 2001. Wordpress Rockstar since 2006.
2006 & 2007 Australian Formula Windsurfing Champion and Ranked #11 in the World for FW Windsurfing.
So you see there's a little more to me than just the web stuff. Hopefully you're interested in supporting an up and coming athlete when you think about who you want to build your next website. If you just came here from a link from a website I built, checkout AUS120.com also. Remember, I build websites CHEAP, easy to manage yourself and with a cool, funky, modern look. If that's what you're into... send me an email.
